🚀 Understanding Sampling & Challenges
Brands offer different types of activities to help creators engage, create content, and earn stars. These activities include Sampling and Challenges. Each one works differently, so let’s break them down.

🎁 What Is Sampling?
Creators request to particpitate in Sampling Opportunities where they request free products and, if accepted, share feedback or content about them. You must request to receive, and each L’Orealistar is eligible to participate in two new sampling opportunities every month
How Sampling Works:
- 📅 Check available sampling – Browse the platform for open opportunities. These are found on the middle “heart” tab of bottom navigation.
- 🛍️ Request to participate – Request product; if available, you'll be notified.
- 📦 Receive your product – It will be shipped to your address at no cost (no payment required for products or shipping).
- 📝 Complete related challenges – Once you are confirmed to receive sampling for a product, you’ll be invited to 3 content-based challenges linked to the product.
🏆 What Are Challenges?
Challenges are engaging tasks that promote creativity in content creation, and allow you to earn stars. These can be non-content or content-based, and are usually fun and rewarding!
How Challenges Work:
- 🔥 Find challenges – Available in the Challenges section.
- 📲 Complete a task –
- 🔹 Non-content challenges: Everyone is invited; tasks like, joining community chats (open at specific times—members informed weekly via notifications or email), completing surveys, and more.
- 🔹 Content challenges: Linked to sampling products; if products are available, invited to 3 challenges. Post on the specified platform (TikTok, IG or YouTube) and follow the brief.
- ⭐ Earn stars – If your content is accepted (for content challenges), earn stars that can be redeemed (number varies per challenge). Stars expire after a rolling 12-month period (i.e., 12 months from the date of award). After 12 months of reward date, if there has not been any Program Activity, the stars will expire and cannot be re-used, transferred, refunded, or redeemed for cash (except where required by law).
Important: For content challenges, submit for review within 1 hour of posting and ensure compliance with the Social Media Content Policy at us.lorealistar.com/brand-guidelines. Follow the specified disclosures and hashtags.
