Best Practices for Creating Compliant Content

Creating compliant content for L'Oréalistar challenges is essential to ensure approval on challenges, earn stars, and remain a member of the L’Orealistar community! Always follow the Social Media Content Policy, the Program Terms, and challenge-specific requirements to ensure your posts can be approved for stars. If your content does not meet all requirements, you will not earn stars, and we can request that you modify or remove your posts.

Key Best Practices

  • Honest Opinions Only: Share genuine, truthful experiences with the product. Avoid false or misleading claims about performance, and only endorse products you've used.
  • Show the Actual Product: Feature the product as is, without enhancements to you or the product, like filters, fake additions (e.g., lip plumpers for lip products), or alterations that could misrepresent results.
  • Clear and Conspicuous Disclosures: Always disclose your material connection verbally, visually (e.g., text overlay like "Brand Partner"), and in captions (e.g., #Ad or #Sponsored at the beginning). Follow FTC guidelines and challenge-specific instructions for exact phrasing and placement.
  • No Third-Party Materials: Do not use music (even from platform libraries), artificial intelligence-based tools, or third-party intellectual property (think brand logos, art, other people's voices).
  • No Third Parties or Their Voices: No animals, children, or other people
  • Avoid Prohibited Content: No mentions of competitors, retailers, profanity, hateful remarks, illegal references, or disparaging statements about L'Oréal, its brands, or the beauty industry. As a member of L’Orealistar, you must meet the L’Oreal Influencer and Content Creator Social Value Charter.
  • Follow the Challenge Brief: Adhere to the platform policies and follow all requirements specified in any challenge, including using all required hashtags and disclosures.
  • Product Claims: Product performance claims should be limited to 1) those on product packaging and 2) claims that have been shared by a brand in the platform, within a challenge.
  • Compliance Check: Before posting, review the requirements in the challenge, the Social Media Content Policy at and the Program Terms.

✅ Tip:

Submit for approval within the L’Orealistar platform within 1 hour of posting on your social media handle, and ensure you have all required disclosures/hashtags.

Use the content Do’s/Don’ts checklist to help you check your content for compliance.

⚠️ Important:

Non-compliance with the requirements can lead to content rejection or termination from L’Orealistar.

How Do I Submit My Content?

To ensure your post is successfully submitted for a challenge, follow these steps carefully. Note that you do not submit content for a sampling opportunity itself; content submission is required only for the related challenges you are invited to after you are shipped a product for sampling.

📝 Step-by-Step Guide to Submitting Your Post

  1. Create Your Post: Post on the required platform (Instagram, or TikTok), as specified in the challenge, making sure you are following the requirements. If the Challenge requirements are not followed, your content won't be approved. Also, make sure to not include any music or trending sounds, as third-party materials like music are not allowed.
  2. Use the Correct Hashtags and Disclosures: Include all required hashtags and disclosures listed in the challenge description, and follow the Social Media Content Policy at us.lorealistar.com/brand-guidelines.
  3. Log Back into the L'Oréalistar Platform within 1 hour of posting: Navigate to the challenge you are participating in.
  4. Review and Accept Terms & Conditions: Carefully review any terms and conditions associated with the challenge.
  5. Click Submit: Once you confirm that your post meets the criteria, submit it for review within 1 hour of posting by clicking the Submit button.
✅ Tip: Always double-check your hashtags, disclosures, and compliance with brand guidelines to increase approval chances. Use the content Do’s/Don’ts checklist to help you check your content for compliance!
Important: It is very important to always review L'Oréal's brand guidelines and Social Media Content Policy to ensure compliance and avoid rejection.

My Post Keeps Getting Rejected Even Though I’m Using the Correct Hashtags!

🚨 There could be several reasons why your post is still getting rejected, often related to non-compliance with L'Oréal's Social Media Content Policy, brand guidelines, or challenge requirements. Common issues include:

  • Not following the Social Media Content Policy (e.g., making false or unsubstantiated claims, disparaging competitors, or violating privacy/IP rights).
  • Failing to adhere to Social Media Content Policy (e.g., using inappropriate language, promoting illegal activities, or including sensitive information).
  • Incorrect or missing disclosures. Always disclose your material connection verbally, visually (e.g., text overlay like "Brand Partner"), and in captions (e.g., #Ad or #Sponsored at the beginning). Follow FTC guidelines and challenge-specific instructions for exact phrasing and placement.
  • Using music or any third-party materials/intellectual property (which is strictly prohibited unless preapproved).
  • Not following the challenge requirements (e.g., not showing the actual product, using enhancements like filters that alter performance, mentioning competitors, or using AI without approval).
  • Other violations such as including profanity, hateful content, or non-original elements.

⚠️ Important:

Use the Content Do’s and Don’ts checklist to help you check your content.

There could be additional reasons as well, depending on the specific challenge or policy updates. If no specific reason is displayed next to your rejected post, please contact support at members@lorealistar.odore.com for further clarification. Always review the Social Media Content Policy at us.lorealistar.com/brand-guidelines and the Program Terms at us.lorealistar.com/policy/terms-of-service to ensure compliance.
